Ten little gems for creatives…

  1. What makes you unique?
  2. What visuals do you like best?
  3. Embrace the blank page.
  4. Do a 52-week project.
  5. Write down 5 goals.
  6. Choose your favorite creations.
  7. Write down why you create.
  8. What ideas mean the most to you?
  9. What do you not want to create?
  10. If you were to die tomorrow …

I believe I got this list from Brooke Shaden. Some of these questions are difficult. But they also lead to answers about why we do the things we do and like the things we like or don’t like.

These aren’t just questions for photographers, they’re for all creatives. Each of these is thought provoking. Number 1 is difficult, number 9 is extraordinary. Everyone always asks “what do you want to do”, but number 9 takes it in the opposite direction. And if we can define what we don’t want to make; it could help us define what we want to create. Oh, number 10 is a winner. To me it asks “How do I want to be remembered?” Well start writing and thinking, you’ll be surprised with some of the answers and amazed with others.
